It's not watermelon Wednesday, well not for a couple of hours, but this beer did come from the man that added it, woodychandler. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden/rose color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of watermelon, light tartness. Taste is of watermelon, a mixture of sweet and sour, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Hump Day?!? #BumptheHump! Celebrate a happy #WatermelonWednesday instead! I CAN't find as many CANned watermelon beers as I would like, but when I CAN, they get set aside for today as a part of The CANQuest (tm).

From the CAN: "Est. 1999"; "Made of Sea & Spirit"; "We've been big fans of local ice cream legends, Frosty Freez. since before we began brewing in 1999. It was a natural idea to collaborate with the family who owns it, as the company has been serving Aquidneck Island families ice cream for over 50 years now. Our second collaboration, Watermelon Freez, is a drinkable, refreshingly tart, German Berliner Weisse. Its light red hue and juicy watermelon notes remind us of backyard barbecues and summer picnics. Pairs well with vacation days."

I Crack!ed open the vent to begin the celebration, but no matter how hard my Glug became, I could not muster anything more than a finger of rolling, fizzy, foamy, bone-white head that quickly fell away to wisps. 8=( Color was a Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with just a faint haziness. Hmm. Das ist nicht ein Berliner Weisse! Nose had a tart watermelon quality, but it was not really in line with the style. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, about par for the style. The taste had a tartness that I may or may not have CANsidered a Berliner Weisse, but at least the watermelon flavor was a) there & b) authentic, NOT out of a chem lab somewhere. I debated adding it as a "Fruit & Field Beer" where it might have done better, but the label was very clear about its style. Sorry. 8=( Finish was tart, dry, refreshing & with just enough watermelon flavor to be satiating without being cloying. Not bad.
