their stout game here is on point, crazy how good and relevant this is for how new these guys are, and its one of the more interesting and delicious imperial stouts ive had all year, done with a boatload of actual coffee cake, which is the defining element of this, i cannot believe how much of that comes through, how well it works with this monster base stout, and how its actually not all that sweet for having an actual baked good in it, holy cow! a near black color in the glass with way less viscosity than anticipated, not even that leggy for what it is, and super well carbonated, also uncommon in this style space where i think we have all gotten used to still sludge. the nose is wild, crumb topping all day, cinnamon and sugar, fresh baked, yellow cakey, a hint of vanilla, its coffee cake right away, not overly sweet, and with nice dark chocolate and roasted barley bitterness there from the base beer, which is probably excellent on its own but in this instance is merely a vessel for the coffee cake. the flavor is even more coffee cake, fresh baked and delicious, i cant even believe how much it comes through, warm cinnamon, cozy baked richness, its even in front of the dark grain in here to me, and its really bold and natural, they must have used a ton of it, its so real and forward. supporting notes of espresso, milk chocolate, and toffee, but again, this is not crazy sweet. its almost novelty level how unique it is, but also i want more and more of it, a hard beer to only have a little of, its so intriguing and perplexing. smooth and not real heavy or sticky, desserty but in an adult way, the alcohol is only a little bit detectable in it, and it warms up into additional complexity. shocked by this, cannot recommend it highly enough! wow, just wow. my favorite beer from an extremely impressive visit to this place, they are certainly coming in hot!
