Bottle-conditioned, 500ml long-neck brown bottle. The beer label says that "This Ale celebrates a Brewer and Brewster's first born-a baby called Amy who's birthday is 13 March 1997". BBE 10/2006, served cool in a straight imperial-pint glass.
A: semi-dark amber, not 100% clear due to disturbed yeast-sediments; a creamy off-white beer head retains a 1cm thick cap and leaves very fine lacing as it settles to a thin carpet; very low carbonation.
S: lovely citrus-laced full fruity hoppyness abounds, coupled a sour-salty-sweet edge of preserved pineapples+oxidised pears, faint note of caramely malts with the burned, bitter-sugary edge, and a flowery as well as piney+herbal fragrance expanding in the background after swirling... furity and malty, with a good kick of
T: intriguing flavour... (not sour nor sweet) pear juice mixed with an underlying nutty hint of roast black tea, leading to a lubricatingly juicy texture of dryish-sweet amber malt overtone, relaxing and restrained in intensity... the slightly bitter-sweet and chewy hops intervene from behind and lift the mouthfeel to a pleasantly bitter-sweet, tea-leafy plus tangy-citric, stage--all intertwine nicely towards a floral-scented, bitter-sweet and moderate finish.
M&D: smooth, softly carbonated, reasonably flavoured with equal influences from both malts and fruity hops. This bottle-conditioned beer evinces the good work from the nice little brewery. It's like a premium bitter to me, so I submit it here as so-called "ESB". Worth a try, if you like British Bitter-style beers~~
