Draft at brewery. Near black pour, half finger fluffy cream colored head. Faint roasty aroma. Taste is mildly bitter, toasty, with a hint of sweetness. Very subtle. Sweetness lingers, along with some dryness.

a rather basic porter here, lighter to drink than it looks, relatively easygoing beer overall, made pretty well but not one of their more remarkable offerings. looks deep dark brown with high shine, a good frothy head on it in the khaki range, some rings as it drinks down, reddish along the edges, well refined. the nose and taste feature modest roast but very low bitterness from it, a good heap of chocolate malt adding depth and bringing a little sweetness, and notes of coffee cake, leather, and subtle umami character, i think there is nice depth to this without the roast really stealing the show, a more old school and balanced approach, and that translates well to the glass here. light molasses and some lingering sugar, but this isnt real desserty or anything, right about a medium body on it, some pleasant linger to it, a cocoa warmth about it, and it warms up well, kind of more bready and middle malty when it does. overall a nice drinking porter that checks the boxes but like a good chunk of their beer list, really lacks any real point of distinction or differentiation, not necessarily a critique, but you want something to bring you back, and even with good beers im not sure they have that yet...
