Sunday afternoon drives are all about taking the scenic route and reveling in nature's beauty. This summertime seasonal is perfect for a pit stop on your drive, next to a lazy river in the shade of a willow. This beer utilizes a unique strain of yeast that gives it a very distinct flavor profile. Light straw color and a very balanced crispness is followed by a slight sweetness. Have a pint, load another one and take the scenic route today.

December 22nd, 2015 - The Scenic Route's most pronounced quality is the appearance of yuzu as a flavor (not as an ingredient.) It's a clean smelling beer, with some lemon peel and coriander, but milder and just a little hard to glean properly. The mouthfeel is quite sudsy, too, and a little tangy. The tang makes way for sourness though, and from there, a long aftertaste with yuzu and lemon, which I appreciate. I suspect the low score on the site is attributable to this deviating from the style's standards, which is true, but take note of these interesting spices and flavors and you'll get a more positive impression.

Hmm, no reviews in almost 2.5 years and I don't think it's coincidence that my bottle's funky. No date on bottle. Pours hazy golden with just a ring of white foam. Aroma is vinegar. Flavor is vinegar. Drain pour. So hard to find any Kolsch in my area.

On tap at the brewery in Edwards, CO. Bright yellow, good white head. Aroma was sort of crisp minerals, not bad smelling. Flavor was actually good considering how bad most of Crazy Mountain's other beers were. This was a crisp, decent kolsch and something I would order if I saw it on tap. They should focus on what they do well and eliminate some of those duds from their lineup.

Pale, golden body with a foamy, white head. Malt nose; doughy; toasty and faintly sweet. Cereal grain flavor with a very light fruitiness deep in the background; good hop bitterness. Medium bodied; crisp and dry finish.
A fantastic example of a crisp, tasty Kölsch ale. Everything meshes together and blends well for smooth, flavorful, easy-drinking (relatively) light ale. A welcome offering when your taste buds are getting burnt out on the latest imperial this/double that. Very satisfying.
