The flavor of Scratch #147 originates in the Abbey Ale yeast strain, which produces a distinctive fruity character akin to raisin, fig, date, and prune. As the flavor develops, the dark fruit character endures, adding traces of toffee, chocolate, and subtle spices. The addition of Belgian Candi sugar and cane sugar boosts the ale’s sweetness, while Tradition hops offer a faint floral hop note that helps to balance the underlying sweetness.

Served on-tap at the brewery.
A - Pours deep amber with a nice one and a half finger tall off white head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving sticky webs of lace on the sides of the glass. A bit less murky this time around.
S - Smells of candied sugar, caramel and toffee malted sweetness, touch of chocolate, light breadiness, banana, bubble gum and some light spiciness.
T - Starts off with a big sugary kick from the caramel and chocolate malt slowly being joined by the bubble gum, light spice, belgian yeast and some chewy banana bread. Finish is still pretty sweet with some mild booze burn, lingering long after the finish.
M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sweet, yeasty feel combined with some mild booze burn. The combo of belgian yeast and strong sugar make it hard to drink.
O - Oh joy, another belgian brown...Honestly it's the same beer they have made a thousand times now. These are always the worst selling scratch's, I honestly have no clue why they keep making these so often.
