We’ve been busy experimenting with many of our favorite hop varieties recently, working toward a new IPA recipe. The combination of classic and experimental hops from the U.S. and Australia paired with Pilsner malt and wheat produces a wonderfully complex white IPA. This Scratch Beer has plenty of intense bitterness and a broad spectrum of hop flavors running the gamut of sweet and fruity to piney and herbaceous. The addition of wheat in the malt bill provides Scratch #150 with its characteristic haze and ample, frothy head.

Served on-tap at the brewery.
A - Pours clear golden yellow with a decent one finger tall white head, quickly dissipating down to a small ring around the outer edge, leaving very little if any lace on the glass.
S - Smells of mild tropical fruit rind, pine resin, spicy hops, chewy wheat and some lightly toasted pale malt.
T - Starts off with the chewy wheat and nice tropical hops slowly being joined by the other spicy and piney hops, pale malt and a tiny bit of booze. Finish is chewy with a nice dose of bitterness, not lingering for very long.
M - Medium-Light body with moderate carbonation. Plenty of bitter hops and chewy wheat in the feel of this one.
O - A decent IPA I guess. Smells pretty good, tastes ok. I am not sure if they are getting any closer to nailing down that new IPA recipe, doesn't really seem like it.
