The flavor of Scratch #211 is ensconced in mystery. In fact, you’d be surprised to learn that we brewed this puzzling DIPA exclusively with a single hop variety. The hop in question is a new Australian variety appropriately named Enigma. Cultivated through Hop Products Australia’s in-house breeding program, Enigma is a tough hop to crack flavor-wise. Reminiscent of semi-sweet white wine, raspberry, and faintly tart redcurrant (similar to a gooseberry), this versatile hop variety also demonstrates shades of bright tropical fruit and delicate fleshy melon (think honeydew and cantaloupe).

On tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.
This one poursa light reddish-amber color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
Smells like melon, grapefruit, earth, pine, red berry, and currants.
These Enigma hops are super weird and giving me flavors I don't usually associate in IPAs, such as red berry- almost raspberry-like, with some currants, earthy marijuana type flavors, light pine, melon, and grapefruit. There's a slight malt backbone but it doesn't really show itself that strongly.
This is medium bodied, with a crisp mouthfeel.
A really interesting IPA, I'd like to see this hop in conjunction with some ther ones, I think it could be cool.
