Without sway, there can be no balance. “This beer is all about the hop combo,” said John Trogner. “When we found it, we latched on to it and couldn’t let go.” Our Scratch #218 Double IPA gracefully boasts grapefruit rind, pineapple, and honeysuckle notes with a hint of earthy forest floor.

Enjoyed on 28JAN16 during a visit to Tröegs. A small tulip held ~12oz, for $5.50....
The bier was a clear, medium/deep golden, with light carbo. Head was an off-white/light tan mix, a bit rocky and frothy, and lasted well with good lace on the glass. Nose was very rindy and pithy, with plenty of hopping right up front. The bier was fairly smooth, and the body was medium all the way.
Had some light, subtle caramel straight off before going hop-heavy. Had lots of pithy, rindy action, with some resiny, piney, bitter action bringing up the rear. A solid DIPA, indeed. Prosit!

I purchased a growler of this to share at an upcoming IPA themed tasting. Enjoyed chilled in a cervoise.
The color is medium amber with good clarity and rocky pale head with lace that sticks well and retention is very good. THe smell is fruity tropical and has some dank herbal aromas mostly hops yet a light sweet aroma with subtle alcohol is noted. The feel is very good yet a little on the sweet side with moderate bitterness and moderate carbonation with low alcohol noticeable.
The taste is great, lots of hops crammed into the flavor with some juicy grapefruit and semi-dank tropical juicy hop flavor almost like an Imperialized NN the way the malt comes through with subtle sweetness in the back with ruby red juiciness in the tastee with light alcohol and orange rind in the taste with slight caramel maltiness and herbal accent sort of a hop candy as I have heard others describe this flavor with tangy mildly bitter and strong combo. This is a very good 'east coast' style Imperial IPA, dank herbal and juicy tropical tasting easty to knock back but sweetness does express itself more as it warms.
