On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a light clear straw gold, with a small wispy head, and a lot of lacing.
Smells like melon, light sweet grapefruit, maybe even some light grape notes, with biscuity malt.
I've enjoyed the Troegs Scratch wet hopped beers I've had, and this isn't an exception. It's got a pleasing bitterness on the finish, clean and grassy, with a hint of pine, and some nice melon and white grapefruit, with just a hint of white grape. There's a solid malt backbone that props it up but doesn't add much sweetness, biscuity mainly.
This is pretty crisp, with a good level of carbonation.
I will almost always try one of the beers in the Scratch series.

A wonderful brightly hoppy light bodied pale ale. Smooth and juicy with pine and grapefruit everywhere

This was given to me by my cousin on Thanksgiving and was the first beer that I had from Troegs in ages. Of course, it's what I had in my hand when I got a citation last week at the Other Half line, but this was completely worth it as it was much better than the other beers that I've had from Troegs recently as it took me back to the glory days of the Nugget Nectar!
Good pour to this beer as the bottle had the number of the series printed on the front and a "freshest by" date of 2/3/17 on the far right-hand side of the label. Golden, bright, and lively, this had plenty of head on top and a few solid rings of lacing along the top of my pint glass. Lots of grass, straw, tangerine, and earthy citrus in the nose with even more of all of those in the taste. The hue, balance, and range of flavors almost made this feel like an India Pale Lager as it went down a bit sour and relatively easily for a beer of this style. Felt fresh the entire duration even with hints of herbal tea and dank pine in the aftertaste but the smoothness of this was what made it stand out.
There was just enough alcohol in here to be felt when all was said and done but it was never a distraction at any time. It would be great to have other offerings in this series to see how they came out and although most of what I drink is out of cans now, It was nice to have a bottle beer that measure up to them. Any chance we could get mixed 6-packs of these scratch beers straight from Troegs?

12 oz bottle. freshest by 020317.
Pours with some haze, but nothing crazy. hop aroma is rich, resinous, and piney. inviting but not over the top. flavor is very tasty, super drinkable fresh hop character. I think Troegs nailed this fresh hop beer and I hope they keep doing these in the future!

A: Pours a golden yellow with some haze. Not used to seeing gaze in A Troegs product. A solid finger of white foam that leaves plenty of lacing.
S: Lemony some grass
T: Limoncello. Some bitterness. Herbal hints. The base is almost lagery
MF: clean no alcohol burn slightly resiny
O: Troegs has always done a great job with the fresh hopped beers and this is no exception. A wonderfully drinkable fresh hop offering.
