Scratch #301 was a team effort dreamed up by brewers from Tröegs and cheesemongers from Di Bruno Bros. This Belgian-style brown is malty but not sweet, with layers of clove and nutmeg draped in a subtly tart veil of ripe Balaton cherries.

On tap at the brewery.
This was poured into a tall tulip.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a stiff finger and a half's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Light strings of lace ran downward.
The aroma started with some Belgian sweet malts (Belgian chocolate and milk chocolate), crushed cloves, sweet banana flesh and had a sweet black cherry flesh with a little bit of tart skin of it conglomerating in the balance.
The flavor was moderately sweet pulling the tartness in for a clever yet intricate balance. Belgian and milk chocolate malts were there. Nicely blended aftertaste of the same.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt on par. Smooth sweet Belgian chocolate sort of finish.
Overall, very nicely done as a Dubbel, in my opinion, would love to have again.
