Scratch #431 combines the roasty chocolate notes of a traditional porter with the clean and mellow profile of lager yeast. Slow, cool fermentation lets the full body of the Munich, black and chocolate malts shine. Clocking in at 7% ABV, this Baltic Porter is robust with layers of cocoa, caramel and roasted coffee beans.

enjoyed on tap at the brewery tasting room
A dark brown with ruddy hue at base with thick cream and fine bead
Smell is malt forward with biscuit and slight dried frit odor yet mild spice in nose
the feel is moderately high carbonation with mineral dry wuality and roasted malt texture
the flavor is very good with mild dark malt bordering on burnt accent yet dry toast dominant with low bitterness and mild astringency with slight yeast taste and subtle raisiny elements
Overall a good example of the style but feel is lacking even though it is more dark lager than ale as far as representation in porter vs dark lager impressions
