Looking for something a little darker to celebrate Oktoberfest? Scratch #497 starts with a base of Caramel and Munich malts as well as de-husked roasted barley to lend notes of toasted bread, coffee, and a hint of chocolate. Our house lager yeast lends a snappy character, giving this deceptively dark beer a crisp finish without the weight of a porter or stout.

10 oz draft pour at Frisco Taphouse in Crofton, MD. Pours dark brown, not quite black, with a creamy tan head. Aroma and flavor feature roasty/moderately bitter malt and earthy hops, with secondary notes of coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and vanilla. Mouthfeel is smooth and full. This is a great take of a classic style. Delicious.

32oz crowler into a 1 litre mug. Picked up at the brewery today by my son in law.
Fine looking beer, darkest brown almost black body with a small white head. Fairly neutral aroma. Roast is mild, which makes for a smooth easy drinking beer, chuggable even. Finish is clean and malty with that mild roast.
