Gingerbread is a holiday tradition that begs for a robust dark beer. Loaded with oats, roasted barley and chocolate malts, we’ve elevated this pastry stout to suit your baking rituals. Additions of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, vanilla and clove help hone in on grandma’s time-honored recipe. While others may crumble, Gingerbread Cookie Stout is more than icing on the cake!
We taste: ginger, caramelized sugar, dark chocolate

Let warm up to almost room temp. 55F +/- , to start.
Dark brown with two fingers of quickly-dissipating coarse tan head.
Moderate gingerbread cookie aroma while the head is extant. After the head dies down, a slight doughy smell is also present.
Taste is toffee, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, clove, and brown bread. Slight sourdough tang, plus a little bitterness, in the aftertaste.
Feel is light-medium, lightly-slick, with moderate, very, very fine carbonation tingle. Slightly drier at finish. Alcohol is well hidden. I forgot this is >10%.
I don't normally go for this sort of thing, but it is part of the Elf 12 pk, so I can live with three. It's actually good. I like that it's not overly sweet, nor so heavy on the spice that it covers up the base beer. The first one I had was straight out of the fridge, and not as good. It improves greatly as it warms. I'd recommend having it from cool to room temperature.

Gingerbread cookie stout from Troegs that was part of their holiday variety pack. Pours a sort of "off-black" with a fine head. Rich aroma of ginger, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, vanilla, and cloves as expected given the additions. The oats help add a rich, fullbodied mouthfeel. Cocoa, coffee, and roasty notes come through as well. It is sweet, but not cloyingly so; the heat from the spices balances it somewhat. Alcohol heat is noticeable at 9.5% (the BA profile says 10.2% - maybe from a past year?). I liked it, but it's hot and rich enough that I'd be satisfied with an 8 oz pour.
In fact, that's what I did - I drank 7 oz, and then saved the rest in the fridge for the next day...when I made stout-infused pumpkin bread. The flavor came through beautifully in the bread without being overpowering. The score doesn't factor this in, but it was a neat experiment at least.

Not Troegs best brew/choice for a holiday blend. You wil need to really like gingerbread to enjoy as it is persistent throughtout. I do enjoy a cookie stout from time to time, but this one did not please.

Pours an opaque dark brown to black with a small head. Smells like a Christmas spice beer. After a sip, there's some serious gingerbread in the nose. Taste is nice stout roasted malt. There's some gingery spice for sure but thankfully it's not cloying and doesn't taste at all like liquid gingerbread- which is what I was kind of afraid of. This just tastes like a solid spiced Christmas stout. Much more drinkable than you would expect. Full bodied. A really good Chirstmas beer.

Solid black appearance with a very thin but lasting head.
Medium light carbonation with an above average body, thick slightly heavy cream feel.
Aroma is ginger, gingerbread, molasses, malt and boozy
Taste is very similar to aroma, definitely mimics gingerbread cookies almost perfectly.
Very well made dessert beer that totally delivers on flavor

Pours a dark mahogany with a tan head that quickly dissipates.
Ginger, sweet bread malt, and bitter herb in the nose.
Sweet bread and cookie up front with a dry herbal finish that is heavy with ginger heat.

12oz can into a tall glass. Best by 4/22/25.
Black body with brown highlights. Small tan head disappears halfway through, minimal lacing. Pleasing nutmeg and ginger aroma. On tasting, sweet, ginger, cookie, boozier than expected but smooth. Finish is a warming spice feel. Overall, as a ginger cookie lover, this really hits the mark. Will start lobbying Troegs for 4pk 16oz cans next year.
