Dive into the marvel that is Little ‘Nator. Simple but complex. Contemporary and classic. The rascally cousin of our revered Troegenator. We built this beer using the best malts and techniques for a crisp finish with a touch of hops. Layered with notes of crusty bread, stone fruit and delicate floral hops, it’s a lager-lover’s way to usher in the changing seasons.

From Beer Drop, freshest by July 16th 2025.

Pours a clear amber, nice finger of foam, very good lacing, good retention.

Smell is big caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Grainy, no discernible bitterness.

Taste is sweet caramel, brown sugar like sweetness, grain, bread. Taste is like a Bock.

Good mouthfeel, I would drink this again.

Look: Poured from 12 oz can into a beer stein. Gave off a thick inch and a half cream-colored head.

Smell: The malts are bursting during the pour which I really liked, made for a unique aroma relative to the style. Also hints of caramel, toffee, barley, dried raisins, and bread.

Taste: Getting hints of bread, caramel, strong malts, and the finish is classic lager with notes of barley and corn.

Feel: Light to medium body, very easy drinker. 5.5% ABV so easy on the body as well.

Overall: Comparable to the original and really good summer beer. Troeg’s is always a reliable source of beer if you’re in PA.

Not my cup of tea...i can do a bock but this one was way too earthy for me, just not a taste i'd subject myself to inorde to finish. This one had me loking on the draft list for a chaser. So many other good beers from Troegs won't do this one again.

On draught, nice amber pour with a decent head.
Slippery lacing and perpetual ring of foam on the way down.
Pleasantly light floral aroma. A bit of caramel malt and white stone fruit on the front end, Floral hops and mild herbs with pleasant bitterness on the back. A little nutty, earthy, even a little chalky and tart on the finish.
An enjoyable complex lager.

Tröegs Brewing Co. "Little Nator"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle "FRESHEST BY 072125" and sampled on 0402025
$2.79 @ Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE

Notes via stream of consciousness: I'm assuming that this is a smaller version of the Tröegenator but it's definitely a different beer and not just a reduced grain bill version. The Little Nator is a clear deep copper beneath a thumb's width of off-white foam. In the nose it's caramelish with some background floral character. It's malty, caramelish, and bready. The hops are softly floral and fruity, and a moderate to median bitterness balances it perfectly. It lingers for some time with malt and hops swirling. It's a perfect spring bock in my opinion: very tasty, not too malty or sweet, and not too strong. In the mouth it's medium bodied on the higher side and gently crisp with a fine-bubbled, moderate carbonation that leaves it smooth. I know this is a spring beer, and that's certainly traditional and rooted in history, but I'd drink this all year 'round if it was available.

Troegs Little Nator has a vibrant copper color and modest off white head. A visibly vigorous central upstream of bubbles. Fruit(s) nose. Gentle cinnamon fizzy texture along with flavor of prunes meet figs, is pleasant enough. Slowly moving warmth from the 5.5% does calm. A carbonated release. Mouthfeel is gentle and a semi dry finish.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear amber brown color with a one finger head of off-white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading slowly over time and leaving a moderate level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is rather strong of a lightly toasted bready smell mixed with notes of caramel, toffee, and some nut. Along with these smells comes a bit of pear, apple, and raisin, as well as a touch of oak and cereal grain.
Taste – The taste begins with a toasted bready flavor that has a bit of the caramel and toffee sweetness that was in the nose. At the same time there is a bit of an herbal and earthy hop as well as some notes of nut and cocoa. As the taste advances the sweet increases a touch, while some of the roast fades. At the end a bit of oak and woo join in, leaving one with a lightly toasted and easy natured bock taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium to lighter with a moderate carbonation level. For the more modest abv and the “little bock” nature of the brew, the feel is rather well done making for a very easy sipper.
Overall – A rather easy drinking lighter bock. Overall, rather nice and great for the spring/summer while still delivering some of the warming tastes of the style..

The serving came in a nearly full clear pint glass, drawn from a tap. There's almost no light tan head, as that's the way we pour draft beers in Philadelphia. It's bright and shiny, despite its color being brown-amber, a bit darker than most lagers. The aroma is typical,
balanced between hops and malt, delivered in a modest dose. Perhaps it's just a little malty sweeter than the mass produced lagers. It tastes like a lager, too. Mildly sweet from the malt, mildly hopped and it includes a little taste of yeast. It reminds a bit of the mass produced Pennsylvanian Lager, except it's fuller flavored and has a better mouthfeel. There's even scant glass lacing. Overall, it's a solid craft lager, for what that's worth. But, spending craft beer money for it? Well, there may be other styles to invest in.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark amber with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is of caramel malt, bread crust and herbal hops. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is of grassy hops, bready malt, caramel and some cherries. Finish is long and dry. Nice brew.
