Served from a full moon firkin, that I tapped.
A - Pours amber orange with a small half finger tall white head leaving small rings of lace down most of the glass. It kind of looks like an IPA if i'm honest.
S - Smells of grassy hops, fresh tropical fruit zest and the backing pale malt. The nose is quite pungent in the cask version however the regular version is much slower to develop, not really coming into its own until the last 1/5 of my glass.
T - Starts off with a nice balance of tropical fruit and fresh picked grassy hops that lasts through the finish. Pale malt and a touch of sweetness help to keep everything in check but never come close to overpowering the two main players. Finish is light with some lingering hop bitterness. The regular version is good but the cask version was the real treat.
M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, hoppy feel from start to finish. The cask version works perfectly while the regular is only good.
O - I love single hop pale ales. Troegs regular pale ale is a little ho hum for my tastes so these special versions are always welcome. What their regular pale ale lacks, an assertive hop presence, this has quite a bit of. The cask version drank very nicely, the regular is nice as well but it lacks the wow factor I have come to love from APA's.

A single-hopped pale ale brewed with experimental hop '01210' on draft at Troegs. Served in a sort of footed stang/pils glass. The brew appears a clear copper color with a slight off-white cap.
The aroma includes citrus like lemons and rinds. An overall fruity and floral appeal is even somewhat dank with hints that are grassy to herbal. Interesting and enjoyable without fault for the style.
The flavor is fruity with tropical notes and hints of lemon, grass and some herbal component. A bit of bitter rind with almost a melon to cantaloupe sort of taste towards the back. There is a soft biscuit to caramel/toffee grain character found under the hop flavors.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is easy drinking with a nice array of hop character. It gets slightly warming with the alcohol coming into play about half way through the glass. I have heard of hop "01210" being referred to as the "super cascade" hop variety. This is my first exposure to it as a singular usage hop and while the alphas might be a super form of cascade, it doesnt carry the same grapefruit notes. This beer is worth trying before its gone but its not something I can see myself drinking lots of.
