From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This solid little stout pours a blackish brown with
dark tea highlights and a decent head of khaki foam that settles to a thick ring, thin clumping layer,
and sports some nice lacing. Nose of rich coffee, subtle cream, light char, and dark cocoa.
Flavors hit the mark with dark cocoa drenched in rich coffee, moderate char, deep roasted malts,
and light cream. Mouth feel is medium full leaning towards medium, smooth, light carbonation,
and a nicely balanced bitter malt finish that is lightly creamy.

Overall, a solid addition to the PastryArchy series that is finely balanced!

Cheers

The PastryArchy Vietnamese-Style Coffee Stout has a medium, beige head and a dark-brown appearance, with a touch of lacing. The aroma is of faint dark bread. The flavor is of rich, strong dark coffee, cream, cocoa, vanilla, and brown bread. The taster will notice a moderate bitterness and a low-medium body, with a mostly-dry finish.

16 ounce can, no dating that I was able to find on it. Served in a tulip, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both pretty good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like coffee, cream, roasted malt, and some dark chocolate. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some burnt/charred malt and earthy flavors noticeable too. For some reason I thought this one would be sweeter tasting than it actually was, but I'm glad it's not. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and a bit coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew a lot, picked up a single of it last weekend and wish I would have bought some more.

Picked this up on a whim since I usually enjoy these Pastry beers. This one is runner up for world class so smooth coffee and espresso notes that it doesn't even seem like beer or any ABV notes just smooth creamy dark goodness. With very little bitterness from the hops or coffee it makes for an exceptional stout well suited to be enjoyed sipped slowly after a long day of work or cold evening. If I see it again I may have to snag a few.

It’s been a minute since I’ve hit up the PastryArchy series. This one feels relatively normal, just a coffee Stout that’s maybe a bit sweeter since it’s based on Vietnamese coffee. Let’s pop it open and see what it’s all about

Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of creamy light tan head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves decent lacing

This is certainly coffee forward in the nose, but it’s a sweet coffee with a nice balance. I’m picking up on aromas of fruity coffee, red grape, cocoa powder, vanilla creme, caramel, burnt toast, toffee, and light black cherry

It’s pretty similar in taste, balanced and quite nice. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting dark roast coffee, cocoa powder, black cherry, burnt caramel, vanilla, charred oak, and light molasses. The swallow brings notes of fruity coffee, red grape, vanilla creme, milk chocolate, caramel, light char, and molasses

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick and roasty beer. Finishes slightly sticky but still balanced

This one is really solid. Not your typical coffee Stout but worth trying

Appearance - Pours a dark chocolate brown with four fingers of frothy mocha tan head.

Smell - roasted malts, coffee bean (dark roast coffee), vanilla, earthy and floral hops, lactose sweetness, and earthy yeast.

Taste - Strong coffee and roasted malt flavour, followed by earthy/floral bitter hops. Sweetness provided by lactose and vanilla. Lingering bitterness and a bit of alcohol in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Some alcohol warmth on the palate.

Overall - A tasty stout that delivers on the Vietnamese coffee style. The sweetness is not too cloying. I wish the ABV was a little more hidden, but otherwise no complaints!

A - Pitch black pour with thin tan lacing and lots of legs on the sides of the glass.

S - Overall aroma is light for a beer like this. Delicate chocolate malt with cream and very light char presence.

T - Chocolate malt char, light cofee roast, some caramel and cream mixed in.

M - Big medium body with a little bit of thinness around the edges.

O - A solid Imperial Stout, light on the nose, but overall enjoyable!
