Generously hopped with Mosaic hops which provide a floral and perfume aroma with flavors of citrus and lemon peel. Slightly tropical and earthy with an herbal finish. Late addition dry hopping with Centennial hops that provide a fresh sweet note to the beer.

Poured a clear yellow-gold body with good head and lace patches down the glass. Has a sweet tropical fruit-like aroma with some dirty, oily hops. Smooth, clean, medium body beer that is a tad sticky with a good malt base. Tropical fruit like sweetness and then finishes a little dry and earthy.

DATE: May 9, 2019... OCCASION: celebrating the accepted bid on our new home a day late... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... crackles as it pours from its sixteen-ounce can... its light orange-yellow glow is almost iridescent, teeming with bubbles and building a frothy, snow-white thickness that, though uneven, remains a finger in strength and laces with appreciable coral... pineapple, peach, lemon zest, something sour, prominent cosmetic counter, and a useful amount of biscuit malt... a slight astringency keeps this from a perfect draw, but it still stirs the taste buds in the right direction... begins frothy and creamy, with an aggressive bite to the teeth... its mouthfeel is medium-bodied, chewable but not tough, before it meets the throat with a tart, acidic ending that lingers well into the next sip... lemon zest and pineapple are front and center, with a strong resin kick that drives home its double aspect...this is balanced as well, avoiding a hop bomb with back-end strength, though it becomes cracker more than biscuit... tart, sharp like cheese, and not showing its ABV prominently, this is a nice companion to a reading night... this is the second brewery I have enjoyed whose selling point is military service, and I won't make it a competition, so let's just say I hope they both do well for themselves by continuing to make strong product...

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of melon, herbal, light pine. Taste is melons, a touch of herbal notes, a strong malt backbone, moderate bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Honor Brewing Company "Desired Effects"
1 Pint can, coded "003 13:53". Brewed in Denver, CO
$4.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: So this is interesting to begin with, it's poured a light golden color, lighter than you might normally expect of a double IPA. It's hazy but that may be due to dry-hopping, and haziness has become the new norm anyway. The head is a finger-thick cap of white that seems to be holding well. The aroma is fruity. It's sweet and tropical. As I quite often say, it's not the brightest aroma but it doesn't have to be for a double IPA. On to the flavor... the malt is solid, and nicely grainy and sweetish, but not as sweet as the aroma would have you believe. The hops nestle into it nicely with fruity notes of papaya, berries, honey drizzled orange, a light spritz of lemon, and some earthy, herbal, and lightly piney notes. The fruity notes appear upfront with the earthy notes obviously coming through in the finish. A solid bitterness balances it but it still retains a bit of malty, honey-like sweetness. In the mouth it's medium bodied and dextrinous, but not exactly medium-full. The alcohol makes a minor showing in the finish about halfway through the serving, which is not bad at all. Basically it's quite a solid double IPA.

Had from can June 2018

Wow, delicious new school DIPA! Pale yellow in color but not lacking body / Lots of melon, bubblegum, maybe mango(?) in the nose; super quaffable- zero alcohol burn. This baby is slightly sweet but all thanks to the tropical fruits (read: no overpowering malting required for balance). Would highly recommend, nice work Honor Brewing!

Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Beer Nerd 12-oz. tulip
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.

Picked this up with five others at Windmill Farms. Had never heard of Honor Brewing and that piqued my interest. Back of the can has it being brewed in Denver, while everything I see has it brewed in Chantilly, Va. I’m guessing maybe it was contract brewed in VA, but not sure. Online description has it, “Generously hopped with Mosaic hops which provide a floral and perfume aroma with flavors of citrus and lemon peel. Slightly tropical and earthy with an herbal finish. Late addition dry hopping with Centennial hops that provide a fresh sweet note to the beer.”

Poured a pale clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy-to-rocky white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very good spotty lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled lime, bubblegum, Mosaic, floral, lemon, green vegetables, light blueberry and papaya. A little more papaya and some mango from the can. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted a little better than the nose. Got lime, lemon, Centennial, Mosaic, floral, bubblegum, papaya, blueberry, guava, purple grape and Blueberry Blow Pop candy. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.00)

Overall just a solid IPA. (Overall - 4.00)
