Enjoy your new pet!” he said. Twelve hours later, your heart is pounding with terror as you wake up to find the savage beast growling over a puddle of your neighbor’s organs. And that’s not coffee on your breath this morning. It’s fear. Sleep tight my friend.

12oz bottle enjoy by 01.26.23 (a month past that at time of review) poured into a tulip pint glass at fridge temp 6% ABV per label. The beer pours medium brown in color with chestnut highlights and light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and partial layer of bubbles. The aroma is mild with cold brew coffee and a hint of Hershey's syrup. The taste is bittersweet roasted malt more of the same. Black coffee, chocolate, mild sweetness and earthy mild hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good.

2/19/23 Poured from a 12oz bottle purchased from Washington Beer Store.
Clear block with not much head very slight tan lacing.
Aroma... Coffee grounds. Metallic.
Taste similar to iced coffee lightly sweetened with brown sugar...
Light in the mouth, but bites the minute it hits the tongue with strong carbonation.

From the back label: "FOR OPTIMAL FRESHNESS ENJOY BY: 01.24.23"
Appearance: The body is dark brown which appears mostly black. Light is only barely comes through at the edges. It has a medium-sized head that is a very light khaki. Average retention and some nice splotches of frothy lacing.
Aroma: It smells like coffee beans and at times it smells more like coffee grounds.
Taste: Up front there is a pleasant coffee flavor with a light bit of an earthy cocoa note. The flavor stays the same at all points across the palate. It tastes very good.
Mouthfeel: The body is on the upper edge of light bodied. It feels lighter than one would normally want for a porter. Carbonation also feels rather high for a porter. Very mild earthy bitterness.
Overall: It's an alright beer. The coffee character is fine but there isn't much character from the beer itself. The body also leaves a lot to be desired. This kind of beer would work better in a mix-pack because it's good enough to drink but I don't see myself buying a six-pack. It might be worth throwing into a mix-a-six or trying a single pour if you enjoy coffee because the coffee flavor is pretty nice. I probably wouldn't buy it again but it was enjoyable enough.

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Very dark black pour with no light penetrating through it, khaki-colored head with decent retention and lacing.
Aroma: coffee, roasted coffee beans, roasted barley malts, peppers, caramel, molasses, vanilla, dark chocolate, and mild dark fruit.
Tastes much like espresso, can really taste the peppers along with the molasses and vanilla. Pretty much follows like the aroma suggests. Little bit of a nice hoppy bite too. Body is medium-light.

Look: Dark black pour - no light escaping this one.
Smell: Definitely notes of coffee caramel hops and chocolate.
Taste: Exactly how it smells except an enhanced version.
Feel: Medium bodied, not to carbonated.
Overall: I'll buy this again, love this for the coffee drinkers!!!

Black with a khaki head, excellent retention, decent lacing
Coffee, a bit of poblano pepper (just something I tend to register from cold coffee), a hint of chocolate
Tastes like it smells, a little bit of caramel too
Medium bodied with appropriate carbonation
I just don't like coffee beers that much.
