I have been working on winnowing down the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody, which has led to the exclusion of my beloved AIPAs & DIPAs as well as my giving short shrift to what really matters - The CANQuest (tm). For today, at least, things are back on track!
From the CAN: "This intense IPA incorporates both grapefruit zest and fresh grapefruit juice alongside a colossal dosing of Summit, Cascade and Citra hops. The explosion of citrus and the dank, resiny hop aromas are sublime while the delicate malt profile produces a very quaffable session IPA."
The Crack! unleashed a spritz of foam across my fingertips and I wanted to CANduct an inverted Glug, but since it was a pounder CAN, I went with something gentler. This produced a foamy finger of bone-white head that fell back to wisps fairly quickly, leaving sticky lacing in its wake. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, enticing the Gelt Gang of Croesus, Midas & Mammon to stop by yet again today. Such CANplaining, as though it were my fault that I was suddenly on an APA/AIPA/DIPA kick and the standard color for such beers is Gold! Nose was redolent with grapefruit and my mouth was watering in CANticipation. Mouthfeel was medium. Taste was more towards grapefruit zest than grapefruit juice. By that, I mean that it held a more pronounced tart bitterness than juice usually imparts. Me likee! As my summer classmates will attest to, my favorite breakfast is two scrambled eggs, home fries, coffee & ... grapefruit juice! They laughed at me after our second week together, but nothing changed. I could drink this beer for breakfast. Even the dry finish was super smooth and not overly bitter. Once again, I CAN envision this in the cooler on a hot summer's day.

16 oz can. Pours hazy light orange. Thin white head with good lacing. Aroma is tropical mango and citrus, sweet! Mild grapefruit peel and pulp taste with a light dry grassy finish. Mouthfeel is soft, especially for a low abv brew. Very tasty session IPA.

Thank you Kevin for gifting me with this, was looking forward to trying it. Pounder can poured into a tulip. The brew appears a clear pale copper color with ample white suds.
The nose is mildly reminiscent of grapefruit with an awkward combination of pith, zest and citrus green character. Kinda strange smelling the way the "green" character blends with the hoppiness and grapefruit.
The taste is bitter and without much character. This is a familiar yet weird experience kinda like if your grandmother sprayed you in the face with her prom night perfume. But hey, its grassy too.
This is medium bodied and modestly carbonated. I actually enjoy grapefruit quite a bit but this was hard to put down... I wanted to like it but ended up not being able to finish it. Would not seek this out.

For a session beer, I thought this was really good. The grapefruit notes felt like they came directly from the hops, as opposed to an additive to enhance the flavor profile. Both nose and taste are pretty much on point. I only wish I had snagged another can of this one. Very nice.
