I was pleasantly surprised with this. I am starting to see that Manayunk seems to do better with their higher octane beers. Their weaker stuff seems bland and boring, not just in comparison, but in general as well. Not that I'm some boozehound or anything...
Anywho, this was served in a small snifter. Deep amber color with a small but thick head. Rich Belgian yeast aroma with strong notes of cherries, candy sugar, and alcohol. Taste followed suit, at least as far as the candy sugar and warming alcohol effect in the finish. Plums and darker fruits, along with just a trace of vanilla, were also noticeable. Mouthfeel had a short, sharp carbonation...right on. Definitely one I would and possibly will enjoy a few more of. Good stuff indeed. Cheers to Manayunk for putting out something good, as well as interesting.
