-dry hopped sour ale. can to chalice.
A: Nice mouth watering juicy orange coloring is dense and bright. Quick fading off white head falls to reveal a reflective surface. Strong steady rate of effervesce.
S: Sour apricot and sweetened peaches on the nose. Fruitiness of green melon, watermelon grind, along with some raspberries. HInts of guava with a clean malt base has a nice level fruity sourness that was wet and fresh.
T: Sour apricot and green apples for first impression on the flavor. Peaches and pineapple add hints of lightly sour tropical notes along with red grapes. Fruity with some green melon and cantaloupe. Sour citrus and starfruit, juicy tart tart tropical and citrus hops blend very nicely together. Tart grapefruit off the tongue.
M: Medium body with a slick texture while prickly carbonation adds some tingle. Oily feel grapefruit juice feel on the tongue.
O: Just the right amount of souring with juicy sour fruit and tart tropical hops makes this drink like a sour ipa. Nice spectrum of flavors, bright, well blended together makes for a great first impression and stays relevant to the finish. Good respectable level of sourness while maintaining high optimal drinking.

Pale yellow in color with a heavy haze. Poured with a short, soapy, bright white foam with low retention. Sweet fruit, sour apple and melon aromas with medium bready malt aromas. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Dry tart feel followed by boozy warmth. Tart fruit flavors with bready malt beneath with a light boozy note at the end. Finishes with tapering, lingering, sour apple tartness and light malt notes. Pleasant, complex aroma with a decent feel. Flavor is dominated by tartness. Nonetheless, very drinkable with a well hidden higher abv.

Manayunk Brewing Co. "SRP #3"
16 fl. oz. can without freshness dating
$2.99 @ Roger Wilco, Pennsauken, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: A rough pour brings up a two finger thick head of dense white foam atop a cloudy dulled-brass colored body. The head retention is surprisingly good for a sour beer! The aroma is floral and citrusy, quite lemony, kind of like lemon candy. The flavor follows and it's surprisingly sweetish and not that tart but still with a definite lemon candy characteristic. It's light-medium in body and gently crisp with a moderate fine-bubbled carbonation and lightly sharp with acidity. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and gently crisp with a fine-bubbled moderate carbonation and delicately sharp due to the acidity. It's nicely balanced and highly drinkable. It's refreshing and interesting - and tasty - and I'm continually drawn back to it for more... very drinkable! On the other hand it's very one-sided, but most sours are. I really like it and I think they should make an effort to push it, especially in the summer. They'd need a better name and better packaging but this one could really take off as a great seller.

I had a CAN of SRP # 2 that exploded on me before I could drink it so when # 3 came in at the FGBS, I quickly put it into the reefer to keep it cold. I have no idea if it was an anomaly, but I wanted to be able to drink & review this one for The CANQuest (tm), so I was taking no ChANces.
From the CAN: "Dry-hopped Sour Ale"; "The Place Where We Drink"; "Our SRP defies brewing boundaries. Since our earliest roots, we have aspired to create unique, delicious, fresh craft beer for our local community. This project allows our brewers to experiment with custom small-batches and non-traditional techniques. We hope you enjoy these beers and look forward to your feedback."
The CAN identified it as "Unfiltered", so I did a little bit of agitation before the Crack! & was rewarded with a finger of fizzy, foamy, eggshell-white head that puffed up & quickly fell away to wisps. 8=( Color was a deeply hazy/lightly cloudy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). a deep whiff of the nose made me reel back in response. This was not tart since my lips did not pucker, but it was definitely funky (& probably sour). The hops seemed to impart a minty quality, which was unusual, but it took the sharpness off of the funk. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but not much beyond it, either. I really liked the minty, almost tea-like quality that the hops imparted into this wild, funky brew! I am not much of a Tart/Sour beer guy, but I am a self-avowed, self-described hophead & hops make me happy. This was definitely a Sour as I could feel it in the hinges of my jaw while not getting any puckering. That said, it was a very approachable Sour, not overly pungent or so sour as to be off-putting. Finish was dry, but not gasping. This was a really nice beer for this style, IMHO & while I would not want a steady diet of it, it would make for a nice introduction for others looking to explore. For the hardcore types, this beer is probably training wheels, but there's no shame in my game! YMMV.

It has a very hoppy, floral scent when you first smell it. A very cloudy yellow/golden color. The flavor seems sweet and hoppy at first but comes off rather sour. A surprise that is definitely different and worth the try
