On-tap at Capone's. According to Matt, this was two years old.
a: This was a chill-hazed, murky, dark golden color. It was served to me with a short foamy cap.
s: Muted piny hop aromas, still resinous, but without that fresh tingle. Rugged caramel and candied sugar with some dark warm fruits. 12.7% abv is barely suggested.
t: Beautifully aged, big American barleywine. The hops have melded nicley into the coarse sweetness of the caramel and candied sugar. There is just a whisper of heat plus a little fig and raisin.
m: Slick and a little chewy with lovely creamy carbonation.
d: I never tried this fresh, but it is awfully nice with two years behind it. My 9oz snifter was empty all to quickly. Gotta love Capones.

On tap at Capone's...
Appears a murky chestnut with a small head of creamy foam. Scattered rings of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is huge malty goodness highlighted by bubblegum, brown sugar, caramel, berries, vanilla cream, and a touch of cocoa.
Taste is a boozy version of the aromas with a yeasty berry blast and a touch of a bourbon flavor.
Mouthfeel is spritzy up front, medium full bodied, chewy, with a mild bitter bite at the end. Give this three years and the complexities will start to unravel.
