- Red ipa. draft. pint glass.
A: Ice tea colored pour, no visible carbonation, with a oatmeal tinted head 1/2 inch in a std. pint glass. Thick stratified rings of lace all the way down the vessel.
S: Citrusy, fresh cut wet grass, with some freshly sliced apple and pear fruitiness. Gentle aroma, soothing.
T: Grassy hopping and grapefruit first meets you with a hint of wet citrus peel. Nice hopping, smooth, with some herbal dill and toasted bread and dry leafs. Nice balance, with a hopping that sits perfectly in the middle with notes of earthy pepper and dry apple skin. Bittering hop-tea like finish off the tongue.
M: Medium bodied, smooth textured, no effervesce, with a toasty flowery-pollen like coating on the inner cheeks.
O: Overall nice mixture of red and ipa, toasty bready backing with an earthy fall like hopping. 6.3%abv feels right at home.

From 06/02/12 notes.
a - Pours a deep amber red color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of caramel malts, pine hops, and fruity malts. Not bad but a little weak.
t - Tastes of caramel malts, fruity malts, citrus hops, pale malts. Very malty, but nice.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation.
o - Overall a decent amber ale; thought it was an IPA but listed here as a red ale, which makes more sense. Either way a pretty average red ale; would probably pass next time.

First had: on tap at Capone's, Norristown, PA
Poured a dark, reddish brown, with a nice finger of white head, that retained well and left some great lacing. Toasted malt aroma with some pine and earth in there. Basic red-ale-maltiness in the taste, with pine notes, and some hop bitterness coming through, finishing dry with a slightly harsh aftertaste. Medium bodied, and pretty drinkable.
Manayunk brews are definitely improving.

On tap at the brewery poured into pint glass. Aroma of hops, pine, rye, and malt. Poured copper/amber in color with a large, creamy, dense, beige head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is heavily bitter; seems like a lot more than 50IBUs. Tastes of malt, hops, pine, resin, and rye. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, hop, rye, and resin finish is dry. The ABV is well-hidden.

On-tap at Varga in Philadelphia.
Pours a light amber color with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells of sweet caramel malts with large amounts of pine and herbal hop aromas. Also present are hints of citrus hops.
Tastes similar to how it smells, though the hops are more restrained in the flavor profile. Caramel and pale malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by solid amounts of pine hops. Midway through the sip the pine influence subsides a bit and moderate amounts of citrus and lighter amounts of leafy hop flavors work their way into things. The hops carry through to a solidly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.
Drinkability is also good. I didn't have a problem finishing my glass and could have another.
Overall I wasn't a huge fan of this beer but the nose was very nice. Other than that everything seemed just good enough, with a few tweaks this could be a very nice beverage. Still, as it is now it's worth a shot.

Wow...I'm surprise at the other ratings of this beer.
Appears a dense, dark crimson with a fluffy off white cap that slowly fades into a collar. Tubular lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of distinct fresh herbs, citrus peel, and a feline urine that Ive smelled in many an IPA...Nugget and Amarillo?
Taste is of the aromas with a malty blast followed by a hoppy herb bomb that takes over. A hop lovers fantasy.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, tangy, malty, and balanced with bitters.
