A - Dark Black beer, tan head. Perfect for cold weather -- warms me up just looking at it.

A - Dark fruits and caramel hide behind fresh brewed coffee and malt.

T - Very sweet and chewy, maybe a bit much for some. It's not cloying, though. A nutty flavor comes at the end and a smooooth roasted finish concludes it all. The beer is dark but it tastes of pale chocolate and a hint of roasted barley.

M - It's a big, fleshed out beer. It finishes dry enough that it remains drinkable.

O - This beer could be a bit roastier, but I am happy it wasn't. For those who don't like Guinness, and those who find Bocks too pedestrian, this is a great compromise. Very satisfying and interesting.

* Drinking this, I did not know it's a Baltic Porter. It's a little roastier than I would expect a Baltic Porter to be, fortunately. As far as that style goes, this beer is one of the finest examples!

First had: on tap at Cold Point Pub, Plymouth Meeting, PA

Had this in Dec. '11, so presumably it's not retired. Poured into a nonic, a rich, dark, brown-black with a nice cap of mocha head. Aroma of dark roasty malts and coffee. Taste was pretty spot-on for a middle of the road American porter, with dark roasted malts, dry coffee, a bit of smoke, and a mild earthiness throughout; some bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, a little thinner than you might expect, but pretty appropriate for the style. Goes down dry, but smooth and easy.

On tap at Pro Brewers Night and a couple of more times at AHA Philadelphia 6/27/2013
Pours a dark brown/black with faint ruby highlights and a creamy tan head that shows moderate retention. Smells of chocolate, roast, caramel and a hint of dark stone fruit. The flavor is as the aroma advertised. Nice creamy silky mouthfeel. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

Rumour has it that the colder this brew gets, the better it tastes...creamy tan head, nose of the roasted malts...malt heaven! smokey and malty is just how I like to enjoy my porters. I would definitely enjoy a growler of this tastiness. Highly recommend!

A - Deep ruby, almost black with a densely packed tan head that has good retention, but little lacing.

S - Earthy pine hops subdued by a nice roasty malt character, and even a hint of some citrus.

T - Roasted malt and coffee, with subtle smokiness in the middle, finishing with some pine hops, then slightly bitter dark chocolate in the aftertaste.

M - Full body, delicate cask carbonation, nice and smooth across the palate.

D - Great flavors, easy to drink. I wouldn't really change much about it. I'd like to try it on tap, because I think it may boost the hop presence and really add another dimension.
