This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy to semi-transparent yellow color. A one finger white foamy dissipated and left no lacing. The smell had a sweet to sharp orange pulp and rind with a big lemon rind bitter and fresh. Light sweet pineapple helps to open up the aroma nicely. The taste was a nice sweet to bitter citrus to tropical fruit balances nicely. There’s barely any aftertaste or finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation feels good as an APWA, light wheat is felt to help take away some of carbonation away. Overall, worthy crushable APWA. Send me fishing with this by my side.

-can. 3.8%

A: Pristine light orange with a quick paced macro-effervesce. Chalky white creamy-foam head of one inch stays moderately but fails to stick leaving any lace. Carbonation stays strong throughout the course of the drink.

S: Lemony tart hops and wheat from the can. In the vessel the aroma dissipates rather quickly.

T: Tart lemony hops, wheat, clean, light flavored.

M: Feels a bit watery on the mouthful, sorry for 3.8% can expect some thinness, but this is rather noticeable to the point of macro-intent.

O: Overall a 3.00 feels about right here, some points for trying to get the hops to come through in a light package, but still felt watery and barely a step above a light lager. To light and macro inspired for me, had much more flavor from similar drinks of similar abv, this is a mindless downer.

Once again, the now-lifted curse of The CANQuest (tm) rears its ugly head. One of the tenets of the program dictates that an approved picture must be in place before a review CAN take place. The problems occurred when there was an interminable delay in getting pics approved, relegating beers to standby. Since then, someone else has taken over the approval duties and things are moving much more quickly, but now I am playing catch-up.

From the CAN: "Summer Paradise is a crisp, slightly tart, wheat-based ale that makes one wonder how so much flavor could be bestowed upon each sip. This thrist-quenching ale keeps with the tradition of brewing easy drinking beers during warmer months. With just a hint of spices, within a backdrop of citrus, it will remind you of a summer in paradise."

My original CAN was old enough to grow a beard, so when this year's release came out, I simply replaced it, freeing me up to CANduct a standard review. The first step was a loud Crack!, revealing a brimful CAN. I commenced an inverted Glug which produced two fingers of fizzy, bone-white head that dissipated as quickly as it appeared. Color was a slightly hazy Pale Straw (SRM = 1 - 2). Nose had a lemony tartness along with a biscuit malt smell and I thought of lemon muffins or lemon biscotti. Mouthfeel was thin and watery. The taste was very lemony and tart, but I was not getting the malt as strongly. The finish was semi-dry, lightly tart, somewhat refreshing, but I just felt like it lacked for Ooomph. It was boring and a shandy might have been better.
