First had: on tap at Iron Abbey, Horsham, PA
One of a series of beers made specifically for and in collaboration with Iron Abbey.
This beer was appropriately served in a chalice, a hazy, bright golden color with a nice thick layer of frothy white head that retained throughout the session, leaving streaks of lacing on the glass. Pretty much classic in that regard. Aroma of toasted grains, candi sugar, light notes of citrus and coriander. Now, tripels are one of my least favorite styles of beer, but as far as they go, this one was quite good, and pretty much spot on for the style. Flavors of Belgian yeast and sugar, pale malt, grains, hints of orange peel, and some clove and coriander, dry herbal finish. On the fuller side of medium-bodied. Again, tripels are not really my thing, but overall this was a very well-done crack at the style by Manayunk.
