Rich dark brown color with a very small beige head. What is there does manage to lace the inside of the glass. Faint aroma of hops and malt. Very light hop flavor. A smooth roasted malt flavor comes through, but not as much malt as I would have preferred or expected. Mouthfeel is average, just a bit on the watery side. This beer is worth a try, but theres not enough to it to want more.

Had this on tap off-premises. It was served way too cold, but I detected a nutty maltiness and slight balancing bitterness. Finished perhaps a bit creamy. Much better than their other products. I believe I remember someone at Troutbrook telling me that this one is made at Mercury Brewing, while their other bottled offerings are made at Mendocino. Maybe that explains the better quality product.
