Poured from a pint can into a footed pilsner glass. A thin white head emerged, with little evident lacing. Body of the beer is deep yellow. Had a citrus and wheat aroma. First sip shows some of the toasted flavor of the malted white wheat and the torrified wheat, although that didn't help much with the head retention. The finish, dictated by Amarillo and Motueka hops, had a cleansing, lemon zest bitterness that didn't overwhelm. This is a one-of (hence Batch 1) for Hooker, part of their rotating Hop Series, and called on the can a 'New England Pale Ale'. On the website there is mention of a second batch, which would be worthwhile to try.
