Rockaway Beach Brewery

My first from Rockaway, they are important because they have a micro sitting right on one of the most scenic and accessible coastlines in California. Rockaway also is very young, like a year old. But their websites indicates they intend to do all the right things: dedication to craft beer, sustainable brewing, pairing with their barfood and serving as a community gathering spot and watering hole. So despite Rockaway not having had a chance to prove they are Good Guys, I still give them good Overall Hugs.

As for their Amber.... Not bad for a beginner. While it Looks only slightly above average (enough foam) it is short lived. Smells are average, mostly malt. Only in mid-palate do the hops come in and they balance well enough and linger modestly until the end (which is more modest than most American reds.) Almost medium-mouthed.

One and done. But I might try Rockaway's Saison and offer them even more advice.

This was my first beer from this brewery, at Winters bar on Sunday Feb 23.
It shines in the glass with a beautiful amber color with a perfect little layer of foam on top.
Nice, balanced and smooth flavor.
This new local brewery just acquired and replaced the beloved Pacifica Brewery RIP2023.
