a simple but wonderful new school west coast ipa with a minimal grain profile, a yellow color, and low bitterness, designed probably in such a paired down way to most prominently showcase the new hop varietal for which it is named, and i think thats a great call, this is among my first exposure to this new one, and its just lovely, red berries and good weed and preserved lemons and maybe white peach or nectarine or something, fruity and dynamic and interesting and what feels like progression and evolution with hop character, early starting and punchy enough to seem like cryo or some other hop product, which is where all of this is headed eventually anyway right? they have a winner here, both the farmer and the brewer, this is great beer, low bitterness enough to seem almost pale ale in its proportions, but hop intensity is there too, loved this. so light overall, straw colored and so easy in body that the hop oils seem to beef it up a little. the vera is cool, the nose and taste do the same thing, stone fruit, lychee, like tropical in a unique way, but also hints of freeze dried strawberries and those pink popping balls that people put on frozen yogurt, and it does seem to carry just a bit of sweetness. super tidy ferment here, low bitterness for sure, and just a bit green and grassy as it warms in a way that works to show off how fresh it is. this is a real unique hop profile and i think its going to take off, so modern and obviously capable of big character in a dry hop context. the beer quality is there too, and i was impressed with everything we drank at full frame. look out for vera!
