a fabulous, and i mean wonderfully good rice lager, done in collaboration with an operation called los dos potrillos, which i dont think i know of, but they nailed this together, and our group was pretty impressed with this from a quality standpoint. the brilliance is that you can taste the rice, its not just a way to lighten it and make it a little floral, its a lead flavor agent, and i think thats unique and special here. sometimes i think we think about this style as how light and clean and minimal can it be, but this to me feels like a maximal approach, like how much rice flavor can we get in a beer thats still so easy drinking, not sure that was a conscious philosophy for this, but it drinks like that, i taste the rice so well here, and nice supporting hops and subtle lager character as well, both in aroma and flavor, the balance is wonderful and the rice really does shine in it. lightly nutty, hints of jasmine and chamomile, more of that as it warms, light honey but not sweet, like perceived richness is just turned up a touch from the standard though, graham cracker, trace lemongrass, soft feeling, great carbonation, i just love how much flavor this has, and its very professionally lagered. full frame really hit for me, creative but drinkable beers that feel intentional and smart and elevated without being in any way at all pretentious. this is on the edge of masterful, i hope to drink it again in the future.
