Quetzalcoatl is a cloudy amber-colored beer, crowned by a white foam head.
The aroma has a lovely slightly spicy note of white pepper, cloves and coriander, which is complemented by a dry scent of hay. It is an excellent nose to start with; but slowly the fresh and slightly bitter scent of blood orange creeps in and nicely complements the slightly dry, spicy scent. This gives the beer a further boost, so that it goes from being quite nice to a really delicate and inviting nose.

Copenhagen 23/1 2021. 33 cl bottle from Høkeren, Ravnsborggade, Kbh. N. Hoppe.beer’s usual design in cream, blue and orange. A small dragon (I assume it’s the Aztec deity)!and a phonetic spelling of “Quetzalcoatl” as a symbol.
Pours opaque hazy, slightly murky and dirty golden yellow with a small white head. Settles as thin patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a light sweet malty odor mingling with a strong tart, acerbic scent. Sweet pale malts. Tart sour gooseberries, citrus concentrate and a bit of vinegar.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lively and tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a more moderate tart sourness. Aftertaste is sweetish and lingers for a bit. Finish is fairly dry and a bit wine-like.
Sour nose but sweetish flavor. Like the nose better than the flavor.
