On-tap at Elysian Fields, on to the beer:

An inch of head sits atop this dark brown/nearly black ale. With a roasty aroma with smoke, molasses, and bittersweet notes, I was salivating to taste the beer. Success! Perseus Porter tastes of roasted coffee, sprinkled with a little fruitiness, smoke, and a medium sized body. This is just another quality porter coming out of the Washington state.

Seeing just a ton of Elysian beer in the market since the acquisition. This was on tap at falling rock, the first I've heard of its existence. Nicely done example of the style, but lacking the distinguishing element so many of their beers have. Dark roast coffee and milk chocolate flavors are prevalent throughout, with the earthy coffee lasting through the finish. A hint of smoke to this one too, I think it's a real nice touch. Makes it more interesting. The coffee thing is like instant espresso, cheap but kind of good too, not too desserty either. Not quite enough body for what I like in the style, but a more drinkable version perhaps. Some sturdy bitterness on the finish, and great carbonation to drive it home. A pleasant if forgettable drinking experience. Curious to see what else these guys have coming around
