The day the world stood still and Elysian brewed a Hazy IPA. Rules were broken to bring you Contact Haze, a tangled chemistry of mild haze, low bitterness, and an explosion of hop aroma. Bursts of bright raspberry, currant, citrus, guava, and passionfruit, with a slight floral note.
Tasting notes:
Not just typical citrus and tropical notes, we use a unique combination of punchy hops. An aroma and flavor explosion of bright raspberry, currant, citrus, guava, and passion fruit. Preserve the haze. Keep cold.
Malts: Pale Ale Malt, Flaked Barley, and Oat Malt.
Hops: El Dorado, Mosaic, Southern Passion, Sabro, Citra, and Sultana.
IBU: 39

ELYSIAN BREWERY – CONTACT HAZE IPA 6% abv
A light colored haze with a citrus noise upon pouring into a glass. The taste is a fruit bowl of lemon – lime, kiwi skin plumb skin and guava with a slightly sour taste. Its refreshing with the fruit tartness and would be a great beer on a hot day. As you drink down a sweet radish flavor comes forward as well. The hops used are El Dorado

Poured into a glass from the can. It had good carbonation and light head. A yellow cloudy look. A citrus berry type aroma. Taste is full of hops/rasberry.

This is a decent NEIPA with a smooth hop taste that is not too bitter and has a citrus flavor. Nice Citra hop aroma. Very drinkable, purchased a 4 pack of 16 oz cans @ Costco. Nice mouth feel and has a medium smoothness to it. 40 IBUs Rated 3-18-2020

Picked up a single from the Airport Road Ingles cooler on 10-17-24 for $2.00. Best by 20 DEC24; consumed 11-30-24. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured chilled golden with a smallish head.
Nose is nice, dominated by fresh citrus and tropical fruits.
Taste is a very light somewhat watery pale malt base that is dominated by mango and orange in the flavor profile with a sharp rind pith finish; 7/10 on my bitterness scale.
Mouthfeel is watery, kind of lacking body.
Overall the nose is fine but the body just is not there to make this satisfying.

Poured from 19.2oz stovepipe can into a dimpled mug. Best by 1/27/25.
Appearance: nice yellow-gold hue with a light haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop. It’s not actually all that hazy, but the color itself is nice.
Smell: light malt aroma with a dash of graininess and a nice dose of tropical mango aroma. I like the fact that it’s not overly sweet; it’s decent.
Taste: light malt flavor with a bit more sweetness than the aroma and a decent tropical character. There’s a little more bitterness to this than to the traditional hazy IPA; as just an IPA, though, it’s not bad.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation and decent creaminess.
Overall: a decent enough IPA, but definitely not the best “hazy” out there.
