On tap into a saison glass at the Dahlia Lounge, Seattle. Just saw on that other beer site that Elysian brewed this beer especially for Tom Douglas restaurants (including Dahlia) using their own Prosser Farms pumpkins. Feeling lucky now to get a chance to try this one.

Hazy pale straw color with a slight white head.

Aroma is surprisingly tart and funky. Green apple and a hint of vinous, Brett-like funk. Not sure where this sour-ish aroma is coming from - can't be the pumpkin can it?

Taste is also tart, bright, funky, earthy. Interesting. Almost a blend between a wild ale and a saison. Lemon, pepper, yeast, and hops. Sharp crisp dry mouthfeel.

This is an interesting take on a saison to be sure. It changes a lot as it warms. Very assertive, nice.

On tap at Elysian brewery poured into a flute. Brewed for Elysian's Great Pumpkin Beer Fest.

A: Typical Saison. Straw colored. Nice haze. Half finger white head with ok retention and awesome lacing.

S: Again typical Saison except for a bit of pumpkin which throes the smell off slightly. Nice funk.

T: Better than the smell. Nice spiciness, added to by some allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Pumpkin comes through nicely. Good funky finish.

M: light bodied. Very crisp. Medium carbonation. Very dry.

O: Good beer. Not huge on pumpkin and spices but mixed well.
