Our American Pale Ale. Made with American pale malt for a brilliant straw gold color, American hops (Cascade) for a refreshing citrusy hop character, and our signature ale yeast for a clean smooth finish.

Fresh growler from the Brewery poured to a SA perfect pint joint.
This pours a clear golden yellow with a 1 finger head that quickly turns into a thin white lace. Sweet fresh lemony citrus hops hit the nose first with a light malt finish. Very citrusy and lemon forward beer, with a nice smooth finish. Crisp and refreshing on the feel, nice balance of hop and malt. Overall this is a decent APA, very drinkable, wont blow your mind, but wont dissapoint either.

The beer poured a cloudy light-copper color with some visible carbonation and a big fluffy head that stuck around for a while. The smell is sweet malt with a bit of underlying hops, very pleasant. The taste starts off with some sweet malt that is quickly cut by the telltale citrusy/pine taste of Cascade hops. The balance is close to being great, but ends up with the hops being a little overpowering and lingering in the finish. The mouthfeel is slightly thick with a moderate amount of carbonation. This is a tasty little beer that's definitely worth grabbing if you see a bottle.

The beer pours a nice gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is great. It has wonderful pale malt and citrus hop character. The taste is good. It has a crisp pale malt flavor that goes down easy and finishes bitter with an excellent hop taste. It's pretty much a standard APA, but it's well done and easily drinkable. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a very nice APA. The hop aracter is quite good as well as the malt bill, which provides a balanced drinking experience.

appearance- poored a deep amber almost leaning towards copper, suspended particles make it slightly opaque, almost no head but what was there hung around the edge all throughout.
taste- can definitely feel the hops, acid evident, a bit of nondescript fruitiness, lingering acidic/metallic might just be the hops though.
future- not something I'd actively seek out again, not terrible but just not something I enjoyed all that much

Had a pint of this from a hand-pumped cask at the Old Toad in Rochester, NY tonight...
An astounding beer that is extremely under appreciated.
Nice aroma, beautiful creamy head, and a delicious, robust grainy taste balanced by a nice hop bitterness in the finish.
Try this from a cask, you will not be disappointed.

Pours a clear golden yellow with tiny white head, little retention, some lacing. Smells of biscuit, honey, grass clippings, citrus, with some floral notes as well. Tastes of lemon peel with a honey and light malty backbone with a dry grassy finish. Medium light in body with average carbonation, a little watery. Sweet with a slightly dry finish that isn't very bittering, but leaves with a crispness. Easy to drink, very sessionable with some nice flavor. Good to enjoy in the Spring or Summer seasons while outdoors.

I had this at the brewery. It poured hazy golden orange with a thick white head. The smell was very citrusy with a light sweetness to compliment. There was a good amount of carbonation, with an incredibly citrusy taste, but with a nice smooth finish. The finish left me wanting more, which is always good in my opinion.

Pours a hazy golden, with a light orange hue. Two finger fluffy white head that did not disappear, and a nice lace. Aroma is hops all the way. Body is light, and carbonated. Taste is of grapefruit up front, with a nice tart lemon lime finish. Worth a try for sure.

12 oz bottle poured into a wine glass - Bottling date on 11.6.06
Appearance: Pours hazy golden orange with a 2 inch white head. Excellent retention and nice arrangement of small and large bubbles with many craters lining the surface. Plenty of lace lines the sides of the glass.
Smell: Hop oil with plenty of grapefruit citrus-ness. Smells juicy and sweet like a ripe grapefruit. Wow, you'd expect this from a top notch DIPA or nugget nectar.
Taste: Like the other two Flying Bison beers I've reviewed tonight, this one lacks in the taste department. It's just a stellar beer until you get to taste it and there isn't much to speak of. There is some hop bitterness and lemon peel but not much flavor is going on .
Mouthfeel: Slick and watery. Not up to par with their other beers. Bittering aftertaste is the best part of any of the flavor profile.
Drinkability: I would say its excellent. Throw a bunch of these on ice and go to town. I'm just so sorry that it lacks in flavor.

Poured a hazy golden color wuth massive white puffy head that escaped the confines of the glass.
Smell is mildly hoppy with a strange note that reminds me of some old Ramapo beers I had several years ago.
Taste is OK , nothing great, but servicable.
Finishes a bit too bitter and dry for my liking with an absence of malt tastes.
Drinkable, but not much else.

12oz bottle -> pint
bottled on: 092606
Well, almost 8 months old, lets see how this one holds up.
Pours with one inch of beer and the rest of the glass filled with foam, this from a gentle pour. About 15 minutes later, the glass is filled with a yellowish orange slightly hazed brew, with a lumping clump of foam. Some patchy thin lace. Even after all that head, the carbonation in the beer appears slight.
Nose: Citrus hops, some stale beer smell i associate with macros.
Not a bad tasting apa at all. Not much flavor from the malt though you can tell its there. Finishes with a nice citrus SNPA like bitterness and flavor. Slightly drying without any lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium, crisp and clean.
After waiting for the foam to settle, you are left with a highly drinkable average APA. Thanks to my bro for the sampes.

The frothy white head atop Flying Bison's Barnstormer holds quite well and leaves some thin but sticky lace about the glass as it receeds. The hazy amber body glows with dull golden and orange highlights beneath. Great retention and lacing!
The nose expresses a combination of citrusy hops, husky grains, and yeast.
In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp with a fine-bubbled, standard carbonation.
Unfortunately, the flavor is somewhat phenolic, masking the hop character; and the yeasty acidity dusts over the maltiness. It finishes harshly bitter and slightly astringent.
I'd normally question the quality of a beer like this, writing it off as a possible single bottle or single batch problem, but I was given a bottle by a brewery rep. Not their best effort.

Nice clear, medium gold body topped by a rather creamy off white head. Aroma has a fairly pronounced Cascade hop note backed by a hint of honey. Flavor is primarily bitter grapefruit rinds. Not much malt to back up the bitterness. A little thin on the palate as well. Drinkability is also poor. This mixed sixer of beers from Flying Bison is one of the things that keeps me from buying new beers more often: getting six beers that really aren't all that enjoyable is just a disappointment.

Appears a cloudy copper orange with a heavily carbonated large off white foamy head leaves scatterd lacing on my pint. Aroma has a slight metallic character with piney floral hps not too pronounced and matched with a mild biscuit malt presence. Flavor has a solid bitterness with a piney/floral cascade flavor balanced sweet biscuit malt layer pretty nice better than other Flying Bison brews I've sampled. Mouthfeel is light to medium body range with a crisp carbonation flows smoothly on the palate bitterness trickles acros the tongue. Drinkability...a decent session pale I've had better but this is a nice one to try out.

A: Pours a crystal clear golden straw color with a frothy one finger white pillow like head. Nice retention and decent lacing forming down the sides of the glass.
S: Nice sharp hop blast up front with a butteryness to it. Slight malt behind. Ever so slight metallic notes.
T/M: Citrus and pine hoppyness greets the palate up front with a nice toasted maltyness in the back. Pine and citrus hops go back and forth. Buttery and smooth on the palate with a slightly dry and bitter finish. Light body with a low level of carbonation
D: This is one hopped up pale ale. A bit too buttery and coating for me, but probably a good and refreshing summer brew. I think I got it a bit too late in the season though.

A pale yellow gold body, with chill haze, topped by three plus fingers of snow white smooth velvety foam. Some decent lacing.
Fruity nose, pleasant but not enormous. Grapefruit, orange, and pine flavors.
Caramely malt graps a toe-hold on the tongue at first splash, followed by some citrusy fruitiness, and a pleasant hop snap near the finish. Nothing really dominate, outstanding or offputting.
Smooth light to light/medium mouthfeel. Easy drinkability.
Pleasant enough pale ale. Not a seeker out, but not a turn downer either.

Picked this one up in a mixed sixer with the Aviator Red and Buffalo Lager...nice to see some more FB brews entering MA.
Pours a raw honey color with two fingers of pillow-cloud head...half of which goes nowhere and the other half leaves some thick lacing coating all areas of the glass.
Mild in the nose...slight malt sweetness and a quick dose of earthy hops.
The taste is decent...slight metallic in the start and finish, but also packs a generous bittering hoppiness to it.
Mouthfeel is average and the carbonation is a touch too high...causing some of those metallic burps that can't help consumption.
Can't blame it on the freshness, because the bottling date is from July of this year. The metallic quality fades halfway thru the offering and has a pleasant aftertaste.
Decent beer, but personally, I'd go elsewhere after this one, based on the current bottle.
