Out of a bottle with a label that was clearly printed on a home printer this unassuming beer was a dark garnet color. The head was tan and thin, but it did not retain very well as a collar and left only decent lacing. The aroma was rich and sweet dominated by caramel malt with roasted malt, floral hops and hints of hazelnut. The flavors were notably sweet as well, lots of roasted and caramel malt up front followed by a bittering balance of pungent, citrus rind and grapefruit hops. Alcohol heat was present, especially as it warmed up. There was a lingering bitter, root-like finish to it as well. The body was medium, the mouthfeel a little watery and the carbonation a little too light as well. Not a bad jump up from their regular but the feel and the finish need work.
