Near black in color—no light shines through the glass. Foamy/rocky head which eventually settles to film and rim bubbles. Random spots and streaks.
The smell is off to me. It smells like a stinky cheese in a subtle way. I can’t get any wheat or black patent malt smells.
The taste is a vast improvement. First, the burnt malt shows initially. The carbonation is high (like most Japanese beers) and the body is a bit thin. There’s some hop bitterness but it’s subtle. It’s refreshing without any off or offensive elements. The aftertaste is an extension of the initial flavor.
