From a twelve ounce brown bottle, this brew is a light brown, amber color. The head is medium in height, and the aroma has a fruit and spice note. Sweet malt is underlying the scent. Balanced taste, with a citrus flavor beneath a malt and wheat twang. Much better than expected.

BOTTLE: Twist off crown cap. Brown glass 12 fl oz format.
"Spiced abbey ale." 5.9% ABV. "Ale brewed with ginger, cinnamon, mace & orange peel."
APPEARANCE: Clear auburn body. Filtered.
Off-white ~1.5cm head.
AROMA: Clove. Bready dark malts. Ale yeast esters.
Not getting the mentioned spices. A rather subdued aroma. Suggests a flat simplistic beer without any dark fruit notes or abbey ale-like complexity.
TASTE: Bready malts. Malt syrup. Caramalt. A hint of clove, maybe orange peel.
Rather simplistic and shallow for an ostensible abbey ale.
TEXTURE: Smooth, thick, wet, unrefreshing, medium-bodied.
OVERALL: Lacklustre to say the least. There's not a lot going on here, and what little it has ain't doing it for me.

Look: Clear copper with amber highlights in the light. One finger of foamy white head with good retention.
Smell: Light cinnamon, skunkiness, ginger, yeast.
Taste: Milder than the smell. Bread with gentle Christmas spices and a very, very mild hint of bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Average thickness, high carbonation.
Overall: Despite the advertisement, it doesn't taste as strong as it smells.
