A very nice rye from a very young micro. a tough combo to achieve.
Common People is not only young, but thoughtful. The descriptions on their tap list indicate they think carefully about each beer. Their pizza menu suggests thoughtful pairings. And they understand and embrace their role as a community gathering spot in a remote region of NSW. And they got distribution to Sydney (I found this at Oak Barrel.) For all that at such a young age, I give Common People good Overall Hugs.
As for Rye Here, Rye Now... I particularly like how rye can replace hops as spicing. And CPBC does it well here and then, as important, doesn't fall for the temptation to still add more hops for a thrill. Knowing moderation is key to brewing for the long-term. Rye Here could have more foam, but still has a nice amber bod. Smells are both the sweet malt and the spice from the rye. Tastes are well-balanced; the rye finishing as strong as the hops. Medium-mouthed in a style that gets too heavy sometimes. Rye Here is lighter and effective. Cheers, Mates !
