Oakland Bay IPA

I had this beer on-tap in a schooner glass at the brewery in Shelton.

Appearance: medium yellow-gold hue with a moderate haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop.

Smell: kind of a bitter citrus peel aroma with notes of orange and grapefruit. I like it.

Taste: bitter grapefruit peel as in the aroma, backed up by a moderate sweetness so that it’s juicy at first but finishes quite bitter. I’m a little on the fence about this one, like maybe the malt is not quite sweet enough for balance, but I do like it.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: like it’s just this side of a little too bitter, but doesn’t cross the line. So, yeah, pretty solid IPA!
