session ipa at this awesome little small town brewery, cool spot, fun beers. their menu said this was quadruple hopped, which seems excessive for a session ipa, but in the glass this seems tastefully done, its hoppy sure but its not overly robust to an american palate and avoids greenness and harshness that over hopped beer often has, this is clean and somewhat surprisingly easy, even refreshing, pretty well made, light hazy, honey colored with a little malt apparent, everything in balance in these parts, thats for sure, creamy white head from the tap, great retention and lace as it drinks too. the nose and taste have subtle sweet orange, peach, and pine notes, not sure what the hops are but some cool fruitiness plays on top of the lightly bready grain base, the ferment is clean, and bitterness is actually only middle of the road, tangerine and light weedy dankness at the end, some oils on the palate and some body give this a bit of texture for its real low abv, nice. this presents as very fresh, refined enough to be professional but also left along enough to keep this pretty full character, right on. good carbonation, it warms up well, and carries an herbal brightness that really lends to the subtle complexity and perceived freshness. nice effort here, unfussy and crushable, nice dry hopping, almost crisp at the end despite some early grain richness. loved our brief time at this spot!
