A classic American-style Pale Ale brewed with Centennial and Cascade hops. This amber-colored beer is dominated by its noticeable but balanced hop flavors.

Draught @ Brewpub. This one pours a cloudy amber color, without much of a head. There was no lacing to speak of. It has a milder aroma. Mainly notes of some malt and some hops. It was somewhat grapefruity, but not very strong. The taste is decent enough. It has a medium malt boy, with a somewhat bitter taste. It has a good balance and is fairly smooth. A touch dry in the finish. A good drinker.

Slightly hazy amber with minimal white head, no retention, spotty lace
Slight citrus toasty malt aroma, hint of butterscotch
Toasty, light caramel malt and citrusy hop flavor
Medium bodied, could use a touch more carbonation

On tap at the Mechanicsburg location.
The appearance was a nice looking bronzed amber color with a sustaining finger's worth of white foamy head. This softly slid off to leave some sliding lace.
The aroma had the bold Centennial hops up front playing with some citrusy zesty to sweet hoppiness of the Cascade hops. Really nice balance.
The flavor leans slightly towards the zestiness pulling in a subtle balance of sweetness from the Cascade and Centennial, I say very nice. Mild aftertaste of the Centennial hops.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionable sort of quality about it. Good carbonation and ABV. Crisp bittersweet grassy finish with some citrusy zesty punch.
Overall, probably the best beer I had at Marzoni's. I'd have this one again.

A press junket took me up to their Selinsgrove location where a mixed-six was conferred on each attendee as part of the outing. I know that The Bros. Alstrom like transparency in such matters & I have nothing to hide. I have known brewer Bill Kroft for years & Bill knows that I am equitable in my reviews.

Man, I wish that they would make the leap to CANs! Marzoni's fills what could be a gaping void in south-central PA & the fact that they have begun bottling is a step in the right direction, but there are so many outdoors activities out that way that CANs would be a natural fit.

If it must be a bottle, at least let it be a standard bevel with a crown cap that Pop!s when I open it. This one really worked for me. No swirl necessary as even a gentle pour raised two fingers of dense, foamy, tawny head with good retention. Color was Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had an interesting admixture of hoppy odors from grass & hay to pine & citrus. Frankly, it seemed a bit rich for an APA & I always question where the APA style ends and the AIPA style picks up in this day & age. Not that I am complaining, mind you, I am simply raising a question. I enjoy hoppy beers, I am a self-described, self-avowed hophead, but I am also curious. Mouthfeel was medium. The pine was the prevalent flavor, followed by the grapefruit citrus & underlain by a biscuity maltiness that may have accounted for that hay/grassy smell. I just took a moment to read this site's style guide & my description seems to better fit an AIPA. That said, they also make an AIPA, which I will review next. I am not dunning this beer, I am merely trying to point out that it may be a tad intense for an unsuspecting consumer. Moving forward, the finish was pleasantly dry with a good bit of lingering citrusy bitterness, actually quite juicy. I liked it, but it just seemed a tad intense for the style, which makes me curious as to the

Served on tap in a sample glass.

Appearance: Amber color with a thin white head.

Smell: Very strong hops with light citrus notes.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of strong bitter hops. A hint of sweeter citrus.

Overall: Good IPA. I would have this one again.

Had this as a 6oz sampler at the Allison Park, PA location. Was called "North Park Pale Ale" but I think it is the same beer.

Appearance: Clear golden amber color. Strong off-white head with good lacing.

Smell: Nice US hop aroma with some caramel malts in the background.

Taste: Hops hit first with a citrus/floral pop. Slight caramel sweetness in the middle with a smooth, mild hop finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with some tignly hop oils and carbonation.

Drinkability: Quite smooth for a hoppy pale ale. Marzoni's seems to specialize in smooth tasting beers.

Appearence: Pours a cloudy copper color with a decent white head that dies down to a thin collar. Very attractive and lively looking.

Smell: A pleasent, intruiging mixof floral and earthy hops greet the nose with a strong malt background. A+ for balance!

Taste and Mouthfeel: Picture perfect pale ale flavor! Nice floral hops, albiet strong and flavorful, are balanced perfectly by a bready, grainy malt flavor. Again, A+ for balance! Goes down like water. Smooth, flavorful, intruiging, and balanced - just what I like in a pale ale.

Drinkability and Overall: One of the best Marzoni's brews I've had. From watching the bartender pour the drafts, it seems like this one gets passed up. Well don't. If you're looking for an in-your-face hop monster, or and overly sweet and alcoholic malt bomb, this is not what you want. But if one can appreciate subtly, balance, and simple good taste, try it.
