500ml bottle in Nürnberg, Clear pale golden color, large to moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts and floral hops. The flavor is also slightly sweet and malty, with moderate herbal hops in the finish. A solid Helles.

Half pint at the brewpub in Nuremberg. Paired with their delicious pork shoulder, a local cut and delicacy. Had to try their three major styles and finished with this. Should have started with it, in hindsight. But still delicious and pairs well with their cherry streusel dessert. Properly hazy, sweet, barny, with a slightly funky and grainy finish and feel. Truly tasty.

Very good balanced hell. Not as sweet as some Munich representatives of the style. Well, it's Franconian helles so not so surprising. A very balanced beer. The finish makes this beer stand out. Crisp and dry. Begs for more.

Serving Type: 500 mL Bottle
L- Pours a hazy pal e yellow topped by a 1 1/2 finger white head that works down to a thin. long-lasting skim. Light lacing.
S- Bready malt with a slight grassy hop flavour on the tail.
T- Bready malt, tart apple sweetness, and grassy hops. Classic flavour profile.
F- Medium mouthfeel, carbonation is fairly low. Easy drinking but close to what I would call a "meal in a glass".
O- My first Keller/Zwickelbier to my knowledge and certainly a great one to start out with! Hard to beat a nice bright, unfiltered German lager!

500ml bottle - part of a slew of new German brews to arrive in Alberta of late, and at relatively agreeable prices, no less!
This beer pours a hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, rocky, and bubbly bone-white head, which leaves a few instances of forked lightning lace around the glass as it lazily subsides.
It smells of bready and doughy pale malt, further breakfast cereal notes, subtle red apple and pear, a hint of earthy yeastiness, and some tame leafy, weedy, and grassy noble hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, sodden cereal, a muddled pome fruitiness, some additional muted aged lemon essence, and more weedy, damp grassy, and hay-like verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly subdued in its quotidian frothiness, the body an adequate medium weight, and mostly smooth, with a small aerosol creaminess nudging its way in once we surface above those basement beer fridge temperatures. It finishes off-dry, the general graininess of it all presiding.
Overall, this is an enjoyable enough Teutonic lager, the grainy and gently fruity character resounding well with my palate at the moment. Easy to drink, and simple, in one of the better ways I have come across of late - worth checking out, if you're in the mood to dial back time a wee bit.
