600ml bottle at Brickyard Retreat, Beigou Village, China.
L: Clear, yellow, with a fizzy head that lasts only seconds.
S: Light, generic, lager aroma. No off notes.
T: Sweet, light & grainy. Nominal bitterness.
F: Light body, gassy.
O: Standard, mass-produced, cheap-as-chips, Chinese lager. Pretty terrible in most circumstances but perfect after a long, sweaty walk along a wild section of the Great Wall.

A: dull yellow with a weak, short-lived foamy head
S: straw and steamed white rice
T: light-maltiness, slightly bitter hops, ending in metallic notes
F: watery
O: Not bad for something that costs 85 cents for 500ml. It’s somewhat refreshing after a long day of slogging through Beijing visiting cousins.

500ml green bottle, served with traditional Beijing duck at Dadong in eastern Beijing , no need to bore you with further details. Poured into a stange glass. One finger white head sits on a reasonably clear golden yellow body, bubbly with fair retention and bits of lacing. Smell is crackery malt, a bit of noble hop aromatics; overall fairly light but reasonably enticing, no skunk at all. Flavour is a bit more deep, crackery malt, light floral and earthy hop, good depth, light floral bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium-lighter bodied, fairly substantial for a beer at this level, good carbonation, pairs reasonably well with the fatty Beijing fried duck skin, what can I say?

Had in Beijing.
600ml green bottle poured into a stein.
No born on date.
A- Clear golden-yellow; you can see right through it. Standard pour creates a two finger head that disappears quickly. Lots of carbonation.
S- Rice, wet hay. No real malt or hop aromas.
T- Better than the aroma. A hint of bready malt is joined by rice and then washes away by a watery, metallic center. Slight sweetness coats the tongue.
M- Thin, watery, highly carbonated.
This is the most common beer around Beijing and beer of choice for most locals. Great to wash down oily and salty Chinese dishes or the ubiquitous street-side lamb skewers.
