Sea’N Red is a dark copper color with medium-bodied presence. This smooth, richly flavored beer has an aroma of toffee and cocoa with a subtle floral bouquet. The aroma gives way to a malty flavor, toasty character and caramel notes.

Nice malty taste of caramel and roast, not hoppy at all, just enough for flavor. This is the way I like my Reds. Nice aroma of chocolate and caramel with about a one finger head that is off white. Really nice beer. Finishes off really smooth. Rated 2-10-2019

Handsome clear copper color with plenty of foam in the snifter. Grain and a touch of green herbs in the aroma. Spritzy and lively with a smooth mouthfeel. This is malty and mellow with a touch of caramel. Just slightly sweet with a tangy finish. Flavors of roasted grain with some darker burnt bits, but just a touch. Overall this is one of the better Red Ales in my opinion. This has lots of flavor and a modest dose of hops in an utterly drinkable package. From the 12 oz bottle purchased at the beer store.

Look: Almost clear deep ruby red in color with a formidable light beige head that retains as a pillow and slowly pulls back, revealing good lacing left behind
Aroma: Warm bread, wafts of red apple, melanoidin, some light earthy hop notes, caramel, and a little bread dough
Taste: Bread, dough, and caramel start it off as some light red apple notes follow close behind. These flavors develop more and deepen as earthiness weaves its way in and out of the fold and closes with more bread-driven malty goodness
Mouthfeel: Full, pretty smooth, medium-high carbonation, and a lightly soft finish
Overall: This is good stuff. I’m a sucker for an Irish Red and not only is this one tasty and well-made, it apparently is made year-round now which is awesome. A good American rendition with lots of malt character and depth, some caramel, light hop notes, and a great mouthfeel. Perfect for this springtime transition and great anytime

12oz bottle

Pours two fingers of fluffy, pillowy off-white head into my Boston Lager glass. Retention is immaculate, with barely a sliver of head fading after a few minutes. Initial lacing looks very nice. Body is a deep red, low visibility, with a lot of bubbles coming up. Looks wonderful so far.

Nose has a slight mineral quality to it, dry, which is not really what the bottle advertises. Definitely some toffee, faint bread. Not a whole lot going on at first, though the maltiness opens up nicely over time.

Flavor is fine, but a little underwhelming. Toffee, some caramel, not much bread.

Carbonation is somewhat high. Pretty light bodied. A touch of sweetness, but generally on the drier side. Smallest bitterness. The mouthfeel fits the flavor, very light, though I’m not sure I love that.

All this cumulates to a very drinkable beer, which is its main redeeming factor and utility.

Appearance turned out great. A small piece of head lasted all the way down, and the lacing was solid.

This is just way lighter bodied, lighter flavored, and more sessionable than I remember, but apparently that is not too far off style. It’s nice to session, I crushed a hand full of these without blinking an eye a few weeks ago, but there is not much here when you really pick it apart.

Had on tap. Clear amber red appearance with a khaki cap and lacing. Toasty malts lead both in smell and taste. Smell has hints of herbs and biscuit. Get biscuit, nuts and honey in the taste, but all very faintly. Overall it is malty and bland even for the style. Feel is classically malty with decent definition however

Not known bottle age, poured into a pint. Really good head retention, great lacing and very soapy. Gorgeous dark copper color, brown and orange. The nose is nice and malty, with a tinge of metallic nuttiness, somewhat bready. The taste is a classic (and very good) red ale: some light hop surrounded by strong nutty flavors and a nice carmel malt base, notably toasty. It has a nice full soapy mouthfeel. The finish a a tinge metallic but strong in smoked nut flavors, despite this is is still refreshing.

This is a great amber/red ale style, and Pelican did a good job here I think. If you want a very nutty and classic ale for the fall, this fits the bill for me.

Draft at brewery - Tillamook. Dark amber pour, small clingy head. Malts dominate the aroma and taste. Classic red, mild sweetness and a ncice bitter bite..

a truly world class red ale, and well yeah, sometimes its a tough style to get excited about, this is a real classic. its not sweet like an alaskan amber, its not thin and cheap tasting like a fat tire is now, its rich and deep but not too complex, nothing forced or hoppy or anything, and it has a little yeast character, a really nice and even timeless beer for me. malty in a drinkable way, nice and low on the alcohol too, and really no hops at all, if anything its almost subtle in an english way there. some irish type yeast to me drying this out but leaving the deeper side of the grain fully in tact, toasted biscuit, honey, even a hint of hazelnut or something to this, but its quick in taste for the style, fast finishing, drying, fluffy and fizzy, some minerals are all thats left on the swallow, insane for this type of beer. i could drink a number of these, and in the end its another pelican beer that transcends time and space and style norms and all of that, but seemingly without effort. delicious and classic, but also distinct. i love these guys and am thankful to be living in a place that sees so much of their stuff! a style i never get too stoked on, but this is money. almost infinitely better than its ratings, and extra credit because my mom liked it enough to have two pints, a rarity for her these days!

Served in shaker pint. Poured a clean, clear brownish red color with 1/4 inch of light khaki head that had good retention and lacing.

The aromatic and flavor profiles were very similar: sweet malts and some lightly bright hops.

The body was smooth and even, with a semi-sweet finish.

Drinkability was nice, one could easily quaff a couple of these.

Overall, a pretty nice take on the style. Worth trying if you see it.
