Lone Pelican Series - Like the lone pelican flying independently from the flock, this small batch series flies in the face of convention. Our Lone Pelican Series takes traditional beer styles and ingredients and reimagines them to demonstrate the vast spectrum of flavor experiences in this wonderful beverage.
Pale Lager with Peaches
When Pelican Brewing set out to create a new take on fruit beers, there was only one compass heading: massive quantities of flavorful fruit with perfectly matched beer. In our never-ending quest to develop the unique and the uncommon, we discovered an enticing flavor combination with malt and peaches. Capturing the tart and sweet side of peaches, Peached on Deck delivers aromatic notes of sweet succulent peaches with a surprising champagne-like finish. The soft yellow hue hints at the velvety texture, the delicate flavors of toasty malt and sweet fruit. Lager yeast delivers a clean and crisp finish. It’s as good as having your peach and drinking it too!
Ingredients: Pilsner malt, Vienna malt, Tettnanger hops, peaches, pure local water, lager yeast
Clean, Sweet Aroma, Velvety Texture, Flavorful Peach Tartness, Champagne-like Character
15 IBU

I am going to sound like a total looney, which many already think of me as being anyway, so fair dinkum. My meanderings have steered me away from what I was planning to drink next & back into the realm of the Bottle (!) Backlog! I got sidetracked with those Odd Side CANs, especially the Mango Peach Dank Juice. I actually got a bottle of Faber Liquors' Peach Schnapps for this one & glossed over it when I got to the Odd Side. 8=( Fortunately, I'm getting things right, including the Style. Did I REALLY build this as an AAL?!? When I was meticulous about so much else?!? Dummy me! It's a Fruit & Field Beer & should have been from the jump.

My visit to the PeliCAN Brewery in 2007 was probably one of the best EVAR! They have a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean with Haystack Rock on the horizon with an abundance of surfers & sunset is NOT to be missed. HIGHLY recommended!
I started by Pop!ping the cap on this bomber, followed by an extremely slow, gentle C-Line pour, given all of the visible lees on the punt/kick. I was met with a brief finger of fizzy, foamy, soapy, bone-white head with low retention, quickly fading to wisps. Color was an oh-so-faintly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5), despite my best efforts. Nose was redolent with peaches & if I truly built this as an AAL, shoot me NOW! This is unquestionably a Fruit & Field Beer! Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, on par for a Lager, but to think of it simply as any sort of Lager would be a disservice. Its carbonation gave it a nice spritziness, scrubbing the taste buds for a good dose of lightly-tart peachiness. Mmm. This was a really nice use of peaches. I mentioned, in an earlier review, that I occasionally like a Dole Tropical Fruit cup in my lunch kit, but not so often as to take the bloom off of the rose. The same goes for Dole Peaches. I love 'em, but not as a regular thing. This beer was the same way - it was a real treat, but not something of which I would want a steady diet. Ever heard the adage that "Too much of a good thing is NOT a good thing!"? I think that this beer would lose its luster in too high a quantity. Inna meantime, finish was semi-dry with an almost white wine-like vinousness. Mmm. YMMV.
