Mr. Lager's Neighborhood is a heartfelt collaboration between Pelican Brewing's brewmaster Darron Welch and Grand Fir's Brewmaster Whitney Burnside, celebrating friendship and the amazing brewing community in Oregon. A bright hop bill featuring Strata and Cashmere hops delivers notes of honeydew, tangerine, and marionberry. Like a neighborly wave from across the street, this beer reminds us that "It's a beautiful day in the brewery," where friends come together to create something special.

nice modern hoppy lager with the overnight sensation grand fir, who started being in the cool kids club and also winning medals seemingly concurrently, so good for them. neat packaging on this, even the pelican is dressed up in a sweater! strata and cashmere driving this, more hops than lager in some ways, leans in that direction anyway, not unbalanced, just less a beer flavored beer, more a hopheads delight. the hops are thiol forward and really intense in this, not that the base beer is overwhelmed, just that this long unfurling hop complexion does kind of come at the expense of the crispness and anticipated refreshment value of this. nose is cashmere forward, crushed pineapple, ripe melon, and clean citrus, strata adds a hint of white coconut and a key lime essence to me, very compatible varietals and there doesnt seem to be much bitterness associated with this, especially for its relative intensity overall on the hop side. grain is light but not without some supporting structure and a little off dry cereal character, lagering is tidy, professional, and the yeast is without much personality in both aroma and flavor. more cashmere than strata in the taste to me too, with a very late climax that seems a little out of place in a lager like this, right when the rest of it is wrapping up, on the swallow, the hops are still peaking, slightly catty to me, more of that as it warms too, notes of zested lime, new tennis balls, and overly floral white wine, bit of a potpourri thing to it. trying to be dry and fast at the end but the hops push through the superlatives of the lager, so there is some linger, light dankness, fuel, and oils there on the palate. pleasant beer thats still well drinkable and very nicely carbonated, but definitely for the hop lovers. cool collaborative effort, ultra modern in the approach, supremely well executed as expected. i liked it best frosty cold.

Crystal clear amber brew with long-lasting foam in the Timmermans goblety. Highly aromatic with citrus and berries. Spicy and tangy with some malty sweetness, then a distinct bitter aftertaste, more like an IPA. Overall this is a really hopped-up Lager but quite sippable if you like the endless bitterness. Brewed with Strata and Cashmere hops.

Pours a clear golden color with a medium head. Aroma is floral with a slight bitterness. Taste is malt & light hop bitterness, a well-blended mix of flavors. Bright, light and spicy mouthfeel. Good lager. BOD 2-2-2026
