such a cool beer, one of my favorites from our visit here, but truthfully i loved them all. this is a simple base beer, a blonde type, but its loaded with a heap of fresh ginger, spicy and peppy and zingy and authentic, a wonderful beer for the raw fish they serve, and super drinkable for how flavorful it is, feels almost healthy to me, palate cleansing too in a way, just a lovely specimen to have with this type of food and a beer i am eager to drink again already. unassuming pale yellow brew that isnt quite perfectly clear but looks real light anyway, short but sudsy white head with some lace, plenty of carbonation. the nose is instantly striking, fresh peeled ginger root and lots of it, not powder or anything, the genuine realest, spicy and potent, maybe juiced or pressed, pure and well extracted, some beer character with it of course, pale barley malt with a trace sweetness softening the ginger intensity some, smells thirst quenching and zesty, enlivening. the flavor is fresh ginger start to finish, some light late bitterness and herbal balance, very pale but important malt base here, simple as it is, this isnt just ginger juice. light lemon sort of enhancement, peppery a little bit on the finish, almost a lager type crispness to it, its quick for how flavorful it is, effervescent and bright as can be, summery but not exclusively, and it loved salt and umami and fresh flavors, no surprise. its not too much ginger, even though thats really mostly what it is, it still has an ease about it, but yeah you have to be a ginger lover. this place was equally impressive on beer and food, and this is a very unique beer that i think its quite representative of what these folks are up to. killer.
